Food parcels

What is a food parcel?

A food parcel is a pre-packaged parcel, bag, or box filled with common pantry items for hungry people. This food is either free or priced lower than cost, and is generally non-perishable (i.e. in cans or boxes). Food parcels can be delivered or collected from an organisation.

Some organisations require an appointment or approval process before offering food parcels. Some organisations also provide non-food items in their parcels like toiletries and hygiene products.

Food parcels are convenient as they contain enough food for a couple or family for around a week and save costs on travelling and doing more supermarket shops.
